Bajrang Dal activist is threatened on WhatsApp, prankster arrested

Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a “cyber criminal” who sent a threatening WhatsApp message to a Bajrang Dal activist in Bihar, referring to the recent gruesome killing of a tailor in Rajasthan by suspected Islamic extremists .

The applicant, Sunny Kumar Singh, aka Arya Rajput, is a resident of Dehri, Sone town, Rohtas district, and a local Bajrang Dal activist. He filed a complaint with the police on July 1 after receiving the threatening message on WhatsApp from an unknown number.

“During the investigation, it was discovered that the number through which the message was sent was generated over the internet,” Rohta’s Superintendent of Police Ashish Bharati said.

Further investigation led police to Prateek Sharma, a resident of Dharhara village in the Darihat Police Station area of ​​the district.

“The accused confessed during interrogation that he knew Rajput, to whom he had sent the message, threatened to eliminate him within four days and reminded him of the Udaipur murder in order to pull a prank,” SP said.

The team that cracked the potentially sensitive case has been rewarded, while Sharma has been booked under the relevant sections of the IPC and the IT Act, the official added.
