Although it is an end-to-end encrypted platform, it offers many additional features and security options that users can use to further strengthen their privacy. Hiding personal information, such as a phone number, is one of them.
Hiding your phone number prevents strangers from gaining access to your registered phone number, which can lead to either online fraud or some type of harassment.
Steps to hide phone numbers in Telegram:
Before going into settings to hide the registered phone number from other users, make sure that you are using the latest version of Telegram and that you have an active internet connection.
Step 1: Go to Settings in the Telegram app by tapping the three horizontal bars in the top left corner.
Step 2: Next, select “Privacy and Security” under Settings. Under that option, you’ll find the Privacy tab, which allows you to choose who can see various items like your profile picture, last seen status, and more.
Step 3: Click the Phone Number tab and select the Nobody or My Contacts option. If you want complete privacy, choose “Nobody”. However, you can set the relevant option to ‘My Contacts’ if you want to make your number visible to people already saved in your contacts.

Besides the contact number, users can also change the privacy status of other things like profile picture, last seen or online status.
All of these changes can be made in the Privacy Settings section.
