How to share location on WhatsApp on Android and iOS

WhatsApp is perhaps the world’s most widely used platform for SMS, audio and video calling. One of the most interesting and convenient features of this messaging app is current and live location sharing, which allows users to share their geographic location with other WhatsApp users.

How useful is this feature for WhatsApp users?

You can use this feature when you want to guide someone to a specific location or want someone to know where you are. There are two subcategories of location – live location and current location. Users often get confused when sharing live location and current location with others. Let’s dig deeper to understand the difference between the two.

WhatsApp location: Current location and live location
Current Location sends the PIN of the location you are in without sharing the real-time update to the person on the other end of the chat. On the other hand, sharing a live location gives the user on the other end of the chat the real-time update of your location and they can track your movement all the time. You can choose the duration of the tracking according to your needs. However, there are three options you can choose – 15 minutes, 1 hour and 8 hours.
