Five youths from the Arki area of Solan district were arrested a week after their WhatsApp chat was widely shared, indicating that the paper of the police officer recruitment exam held on March 27 was leaked.

More than 75,000 candidates have taken the examination for the post of police officer in the Himachal Pradesh Police Department at 81 centers established in 12 districts of the state.
All five had passed the exam and scored more than 60 out of 80 points.
The police department had put in place extensive arrangements to check for cheating of candidates who appeared in the exam, which lasted an hour.
However, the exam went under a cloud after chatting with the five youngsters was widely shared on social media. In chat, a man was demanding €8 lakhs too €10 lakh for running out of paper.
Solan Police Superintendent Virender Sharma said a case of mischief was registered on the complaint of Gaurav Kumar, a resident of Manol village in Arki, and the five youths were arrested. “You will be interrogated. Their phones have been confiscated and are being analyzed,” he said.
Sharma said the complainant explained that after the result was announced on April 5, a video of a WhatsApp chat making claims about the paper leak went viral on social media.

Bodies of a Nepalese woman, an infant found hanged in Shimla’s Ratnari
The bodies of a Nepalese woman and her nine-month-old child were found hanged in Ratnari village in the Jubbal-Kotkhai area of Shimla district, police said on Tuesday. The woman’s husband, a laborer, had found the bodies when he returned from work on Sunday. The family worked at a local apple orchard. The family is originally from Nepal and lived in an orchard in Ratnari. A team of forensic experts also visited the site to gather evidence.

Dalai Lama visits Ladakh in July/August
Tibet’s spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, will visit Ladakh between July and August this year. It would be the Dalai Lama’s first tour of Himachal in more than two years. The 86-year-old leader has spent most of his time in McLeodganj since the outbreak of Covid in early 2020. The Dalai Lama agreed to visit Ladakh after a request from Thiksay Rinpoche of Thiksay Monastery and former MP Thupten Tsewang, current President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association.
