MANILA – The Government of Makati City will offer free testing for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) to qualified residents.
In a social media note Monday, the city government said it will allow symptomatic residents to use reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and antigen testing for Covid-19 free of charge.
Seniors, those with comorbidities, vulnerable populations, and even unvaccinated individuals who have close contacts with a Covid-19 patient qualify for free Covid-19 testing because they are the most vulnerable to contracting the dreaded infection.
“Ipapatupad ito dahil sa tumataas na demand free Covid-19 testing (This is being carried out in light of the increasing demand for free Covid-19 testing),” the city’s recommendation said.
The city’s Department of Epidemiology and Surveillance decides whether patients undergo antigen or RT-PCR testing.
The city government said the antigen test kits were from the Ministry of Health and Abbott Labors Philippines.
