The hugely popular instant messaging app WhatsApp is expected to add a new feature that will be popular with almost everyone, although some didn’t even realize it didn’t exist yet. According to a new report, WhatsApp on iOS will soon start showing the profile picture of the sender of a message in the recipient’s notification.

According to a new WABetaInfo report, those running the latest TestFlight beta and iOS 15 or later will now see profile pictures when they receive notifications of incoming messages. This is a feature that many other apps already have and that not only makes for a more interesting, but also more easily identifiable notification.

As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp has added support for including profile photos in notifications when you receive new messages from chats and groups. This feature has only been released to some beta testers for iOS 15 as it uses iOS 15 APIs.

It also seems that the change won’t be available to everyone even if they have the correct version of WhatsApp installed. This could suggest that WhatsApp is testing the change with a small pool of users before a broader rollout.

WhatsApp is already one of the best iPhone apps for instant messaging, especially when communicating with an Android user. Changes like this are very welcome as WhatsApp continues to improve at breakneck speed. Hopefully it won’t be long before we can all enjoy this special change.
