WhatsApp is working on several updates to provide better user interface for its users. Meta’s own messaging app releases the ability to filter out unread chats for some beta testers, WABetaInfo reported. The app rolls out the update through the Google Play Beta program, bringing the version to 2.22.16.14.
This feature allows users to filter their chats by only showing those that contain new messages. Last month, the Unread Chats Filter feature was rolled out to some beta users. but was deactivated with the next update.
WABetaInfo also shared the screenshot of the function. “If you’re trying to search for chats and messages, you can use the new unread chats filter, which allows users to see the list of all their unread chats, even if they’ve been manually flagged beforehand,” the site wrote.

Currently, the feature has only been rolled out to a few beta users. The instant messaging app plans to roll out the feature to more users in the coming weeks. Users must ensure they are using the latest version of the app to use the feature.

WhatsApp is also working on the ability to create an avatar for a future update. Avatars are a new way to be yourself on WhatsApp. Users can also use avatars when pacing video calls and can even be used as stickers. The app is reportedly working on a new section to introduce the feature.
